Quentin ensures no further action taken against client in stalking, criminal damage and strangulation allegations

Mr TD was accused of stalking, contrary to section 2A of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997, criminal damage contrary to section 1 of the Criminal Damage Act 1971 and strangulation contrary to s70 of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021 by an ex-partner. The allegations were made in the course of a previous relationship and its break-up.

Quentin was instructed by TD prior to charges being issued on a direct public access basis.

Upon instruction, Quentin held a conference with the client in which he took the client’s detailed instructions on every facet of the case and the evidence. Following the conference, TD was given a ‘task list’ of items to provide Quentin with, in order that the allegations could be met and effectively fought.

Quentin then liaised with the Police on TD’s behalf, sorting out matters relating to bail and interview and making representations in respect of TD’s position. Following a short period of investigation, Quentin was able to confirm with the Police that no further action was being taken. The investigation was then formally closed, and Quentin’s client was released from the terms of his bail; he was then free to carry on his life in the knowledge that this matter is closed.
